DeepSeek replaces ChatGPT as the App Store’s top app selection

Now the DeepSeek mobile application becoming the No. 1 in the app stores around the globe this weekend. It beat the other U.S.-based competitors like AI chatbot and ChatGPT. On iOS this is now the top 1 available free application in the US app store and 51 other countries according to the report of the mobile app analytics firm Appfigures.

The swift ascent of DeepSeek in the app stores’ Top Charts comes after its explosive surge in popularity this week. This is also driven by the launch of several open AI models that rival top products from OpenAI and Google. 

Nevertheless, in contrast to other leading AI models, DeepSeek asserts its models which were developed for only a small portion of the cost with considerably inferior AI chips. This signifies fresh efficiency improvements for AI model training, causing Nvidia’s stock price to plunge by as much as 17% on Monday and putting the entire tech sector on high alert.

On Friday, DeepSeek’s mobile application reached a million downloads total on both the App Store and Google Play. As of Monday morning, that figure has now increased to 2.6 million downloads of DeepSeek’s mobile app on both platforms.

According to Appfigures, the app is presently ranked in the Top 10 of free apps in 111 nations on the App Store and in 18 nations on Google Play.

Furthermore, over 80% of DeepSeek’s overall mobile app downloads occurred within the last week. This information is provided based on data from analytics company Sensor Tower. During that period, DeepSeek experienced almost 300% higher app downloads compared to Perplexity. This is another prominent consumer AI application.
