Google quietly made the first announcement of its next flagship AI model

According to several social media users, Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental is no longer mentioned in the changelog. For this reporter as well, the references have vanished.  A Google spokesperson said that an “out-of-date release note” was “published in error.”.

Google launched its next-generation flagship AI model, Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental, in a low-key manner. The company unveiled the idea in a changelog for its Gemini chatbot software rather than making a big spectacle.

As the tech industry continues to focus on Chinese AI firm DeepSeek, Google has released Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental, the follow-up to the Gemini 1.5 Pro model that was introduced last February. The most recent models from DeepSeek, which are freely accessible for businesses to download and utilize, perform on par with or better than many of the top models from AI and IT heavyweights in the United States. Silicon Valley and the top echelons of the US government have had to face the consequences of this.

The Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental stage is now available for the Gemini Advanced users beginning Thursday. This is now the leading model in Google’s Gemini AI family.

According to the company, it can provide “better factuality” and “stronger performance” for individuals with coding and solving all types of mathematics-related tasks.

Google writes

“Whether you’re tackling advanced coding challenges, like generating a specific program from scratch, or solving mathematical problems, like developing complex statistical models or quantum algorithms, 2.0 Pro Experimental will help you navigate even the most complex tasks with greater ease and accuracy,”.

Gemini Advanced is a simple part of the company’s Google One AI Premium paid plan; it is also available through Google’s Gemini for Google Workspace add-ons.

Google mentions that Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental is in an “early preview” stage, and it might exhibit “unexpected behaviors” — as well as possibly make errors. Additionally, in contrast to other Gemini models found in the Gemini app, Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental lacks access to real-time data and is not compatible with certain features of the app.

“We believe in rapid iteration and bringing the best of Gemini to the world, and we want to give Gemini Advanced subscribers priority access to our latest AI innovations,” Google continued in the changelog. “Your feedback helps us improve these models over time and learning from experimental launches informs how we release models more widely.”

Alongside the release of Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental, Google has made the Gemini 2.0 Flash model, which it revealed in December, available in the Gemini app for all users. It will continue to be the standard Gemini app model for the near future.
