Sam Altman’s sister accuses him of sexually abusing her, and the CEO of OpenAI calls the allegations “completely false.”

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, was sued in a federal court by his sister, who claimed that he had sexually assaulted her for nearly ten years.

In a Bloomberg article, Ann Altman, 30, claimed that during their childhood in Missouri in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Sam Altman mistreated and controlled her.

The complaint was filed on Monday, according to the article. The latest incident allegedly happened when he was an adult but she was still a kid, and the abuse allegedly started when she was three years old. On social media, Ann Altman has previously accused Sam Altman of abusing her.

‘Utterly untrue’

Sam Altman, 39, said in a statement on behalf of himself on X on Tuesday, calling the claims “utterly untrue.”

“This situation causes immense pain to our entire family,”.

Sam Altman stated, “Annie continues to demand more money from us.” His statement alleged, “Over the years, we’ve tried in many ways to support Annie and help her find stability, following professional advice on how to be supportive without enabling harmful behaviors.”

According to the statement

“To give a sense of our efforts, we have given her monthly financial support, directly paid her bills, covered her rent, helped her find employment opportunities, attempted to get her medical help, and have offered to buy her a house through a trust [so that she would have a secure place to live, but not be able to sell it immediately]. Via our late father’s estate, Annie receives monthly financial support, which we expect to continue for the rest of her life,”.

It also added, “…We’ve chosen not to respond publicly, out of respect for her privacy and our own. However, she has now taken legal action against Sam, and we feel we have no choice but to address this.”

The enormous success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot, which ignited an AI craze when it was released in late 2022, elevated longstanding Silicon Valley investor and entrepreneur Sam Altman to a global celebrity.

Sam Altman’s personal wealth, which includes a network of venture capital funds and startup investments, was estimated by Bloomberg News last year to be over $2 billion. He has repeatedly said that he has no stake in OpenAI.

Plaintiffs may file claims for childhood sexual abuse up until the age of 31 in accordance with Missouri state law. Ann Altman is bringing a lawsuit for damages, alleging that she has been in a great deal of emotional anguish and that her medical bills for mental health treatment are getting out of control.
