TSMC and Samsung are thinking of building chip factories in the UAE

Twin world’s giant chip manufacturers TSMC and Samsung Electronics have been concerned about building upcoming potential chip projects in the UAE in the coming few years.

That could be worth more than $100 billion according to Wall Street Journal Sunday’s report.

The top executive at TSMC has visited the UAE and is thinking of planting the complex on par with some of the business’s biggest and most advanced facilities.

Top executives of TSMC visited the UAE recently and talked about the plant complex of the most advanced facilities in Taiwan.

South Korea-based Samsung Electronics, a maker of smartphones, Television, and memory chips. They are also considered the major chip-making operations in the country in the years ahead.

TSMC told Reuters on Monday.

“We are always open to constructive discussion on ways to promote development of the semiconductor industry, but we remain focused on our current global expansion projects and have no new investment plans to disclose at this time,” 

Senior figures of Samsung Electronics visited the UAE recently and discussed the idea. The WSJ reported, adding the dialogues were still in the early phases and may face technical and other limitations.

Under the initial terms, the projects would be financed by the UAE. This paper added the broader goals that would be to increase global chip production and help to bring the price down without hurting the chip makers’ profitability. 

When the tech deals in the region speed up Washington increases the concern about the UAE and other Middle Eastern countries. It is also becoming a line for advanced U.S. AI technology reaching China.
