Google CEO Sundar Pichai states, ‘PM Modi asked us to make sure AI is there to benefit the people of India!’
This is a significant development for India’s technological landscape. The global tech giant Google and Nvidia announced plans to deepen their engagements in the country in AI.
This announcement was made after Google CEO Pichai and Nvidia CEO Huang’s meeting with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the New York Palace Hotel.
This meeting was part of Modi’s three-day visit to the United States. There he engaged with the leaders from US-based companies who specialize in cutting edge technology including AI. That contains quantum computing and semiconductors.
Both of the CEOs praised Modi’s visions for Digital India and his focus on AI‘s potential to transform various sectors like healthcare, agriculture, and education.
After the meeting, Pichai highlighted some of Modi’s comments and he said
“The Prime Minister has been clear in his vision, aiming to ensure that AI serves the people of India. He is pushing us to explore ways AI can revolutionize sectors like healthcare and education while ensuring the infrastructure to support this transition,”
He also states Google is dedicated to ramping up its AI buys in India.
Pichai highlighted the company’s ongoing actions to “Make in India” and “Design in India,”. And said
“We are looking forward to doing more in India, especially in response to the Prime Minister’s challenge to design AI solutions that address the country’s unique needs,”.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang highlighted India’s potential to lead in AI adoption and states
“India is home to some of the world’s brightest minds, and AI presents a tremendous opportunity for the country,”
Huang also described how Nvidia planning to increase its involvement in India. Nvidia and Yotta Data Services are expected to expand their GPU resources to 32,768 units within 2025.
Huang also emphasized Nvidia’s partnerships with Indian academic institutions. He also said
“We are training professionals and students to embrace AI’s complexities. This is a pivotal moment for India to leverage AI in ways never imagined before,”
By the end of the meeting, both of these two tech leaders believed in Modi’s deep interest in the transformative ability of AI to transform India’s future. Huang states
“Every time I meet with him, he is eager to learn more about AI and its implications for India’s future.”
