SpaceX Crew-9 Launch Hold Up Due to Tropical Storm Helene

SpaceX’s upcoming mission Crew-9 has been postponed due to the arrival of the Tropical storm Helena.

Originally it set to launch on September 26th from the Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

This launch is delayed by two days. This tropical storm is expected to escalate into the category of three hurricanes and make landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

NASA and SpaceX both are aiming for a new window launch on Saturday 28th September at 1:17 p.m.  This storm will impact Florida’s panhandle.

The Crew-9 mission will send NASA Astronaut Nick Hague and Cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov to the ISS. They will remain there for approximately five months and return in February 2025.

The Falcon 9 rocket will go to carry the crew Dragon’s Freedom capsule which is designed to carry four astronauts. Two seats have been reserved for Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore.

This expedition will be SpaceX’s ninth operational astronaut mission under NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.

Hence Boeing is also part of this program and delays in Starliner’s capsule’s crewed mission.
