Google Pushed a global agenda for educating workers, and lawmakers on AI

Google investing $120 million in AI education programs. Google also faces regulatory scrutiny in AI advertising and searching. Google also partners with colleges for AI jobs and other training programs. Alphabet opens a new tab Google. This already facing an unusual regulatory onslaught. They also looking to shape the public perception and guidelines on artificial intelligence ahead of a global wave through the AI regulation. 

Kent Walker, Alphabet’s president of global affairs said

“Getting more people and organizations, including governments, familiar with AI and using AI tools, makes for better AI policy and opens up new opportunities – it’s a virtuous cycle,”.

Now Google races to best Big Tech competitors including Microsoft-backed (MSFT.O). They thinking of opening up a new tab OpenAI and Meta (META.O). They thinking of opening a new tab in the AI arena. It is also mindful of the heavy regulation scrutiny and faces its existing business in advertising and search. According to the European Union Google offering to sell a part of its ad tech business. U.S., Justice Department attempting to force a breakup of its Chrome Web browser.  However, the government globally drafting new regulations on the issues that could be exacerbated by AI. 

The EU AI Act seeks to assess the risk and need disclosures from general-purpose AI systems. They receive pushback from the tech giant and that could find themselves in the crosshair of the multibillion-dollar damages.

Google executives see it as an opportunity to shape the narrative around the technology. On the other hand, CEO Sundar Pichai announced a $120 million investment fund for building AI education programs in September.  Walker, Ruth Porat, President, and chief investment officers are traveling globally to discuss policy recommendations with governments.
